The Difference Between The Rich And The Poor

Just because I never went to college doesn’t mean I can’t read college textbooks.

Today’s Book-of-The-Day, the 13th edition Anthropology textbook by the Embers says that, “The individuals who most need technological improvements – those who are less well off – are generally the last to adopt innovations.

The theory is that only the wealthy can afford to take the substantial risks associated with new ways of doing things.

In periods of rapid technological change, therefore, the gap between rich and poor is likely to widen because the rich adopt innovation sooner then the poor.” Hmm that’s a controversial theory for sure.

It’s definitely not fair from an equality standpoint. But do you think it’s accurate? If so, what’s the takeaway lesson for you and I?

the rich, the poor, innovation, substantial risks
