Is Greatness Learned?; The School Of Greatness With Lewis Howes

Lewis Howes is a man of many talents — he’s an athlete, coach, and now author.

The title of his book, The School of Greatness, implies that greatness is learned.

It takes more than just hustle to be great. You’ve got to work hard and work smart.

What’s an example in your own life where you haven’t yet put into practice something that you learned from a mentor?

How Mentors Can Make You Great; Pat O’Brien w/ Tai Lopez On Lessons From Showbiz…

What do Michael Jordan, Al Pacino, Madonna, John Gotti, and Mickey Mantle know about greatness that can apply to your life today?

How can you become super ‘connected’ – winning friends and influencing people?

The great TV host, Pat O’Brien stopped by my house and shared some answers – what he learned from 40 years in showbiz.

My main takeaways were:

1. One mentor took him under his wing and made all the difference in his life.

2. Humility is hard when you are great at something, but without it you will be planting the seeds of your own eventual destruction.

3. Check out the 5 things he learned from the best athletes to ever play. I have never heard any of these before!

Pat is one of the most connected humans in the world – with more stories than about anyone I have ever met.

After a career as a sportscaster with CBS Sports from 1981 to 1997, host of Access Hollywood from 1997 to 2004, and The Insider from 2004 to 2008.

He covered six Olympic Games, two for CBS (1992 Winter and 1994) and four for NBC (2000, 2002, 2004 and 2012). He has also covered the World Series, Super Bowl, NBA Finals, and Final Four as a pregame host while at CBS.

The 67 Steps To Become A Millionaire

I have always been fascinated by greatness.

Great athletes like Michael Jordan, great musicians like Bach, great
thinkers like Einstein, great business people like Bill Gates, great humanitarians like Martin Luther King Jr., great religious figures like the Dalai Lama.

What makes them so different from you and me?

That is the question that your success hinges upon.

Can it really be answered or is it just the old causation vs. correlation argument?

Is there a pattern?

I think there is. And since I was 16 year old I have traveled to 51 countries, read thousands of books, and collected the quotes, thoughts, and sayings of those people who were the greatest, wisest, and most intelligent.

Like the Billionaire Charlie Munger says, “I believe in the discipline of
mastering the best that other people have ever figured out. I don’t believe
in just sitting down and trying to dream it all up yourself. Nobody’s that smart.”

This collection of thoughts and sayings of mine has grown over the years.

Today it’s pretty massive.

I have written some on note cards. Some are stored on my old laptops. Some are now in Ever note or Google Docs.

There have been many wise people over the last 8000 years of human civilization.

The collection of their wisdom and findings can be your greatest tool in maneuvering
through the challenges life sends your way.

Because life will throw incredibly hard tragedies your way: Injuries, the betrayal of close friends, the failure of businesses, natural disasters,
the death of loved ones.

You must be cool under pressure.

You must live through it.

You must thrive.

In order to overcome you have to have the mental tools that are freely available to
anyone who is a ‘seeker.’

I have tried to be a seeker.

At some phases in my life I have done this well. At other times I have tried to
do things my way when they pressure came and I had to learn the hard way.

The problem now is that now when I refer back to all the books and quotes and teachings the list has become too long.

I can’t find everything I need, when I need it most.

So not too long ago I set out to narrow the list down from a few hundred concepts down to a more manageable number.

I chose to narrow it down to 67.

That number’s based on some new science by the University College London that found it takes
about 66 days to form a new habit.

So I decided I would add one more for good luck and came up with 67.

67 mental frameworks. 67 new ways to think about life.

Because make no mistake, what makes humans great is their minds.

The solution to your problems lie in your ability to think more clearly.

Thousands of years ago the Greeks taught their children how to think using schools of logic.

For some reason that genius educational idea has died out.

And all we are left with is an education system which forgets to puts first things first.

Your first thing must take back control of your mind.

Not let your mind be your master.

These 67 steps are going to do just that.

They help me each and every day.

They have been invaluable to every person I have ever shared them with.

What I am about to show with you will change your life forever.

Use these 67 concepts wisely.

They are not some trite set of inspirational quotes that you see people posting on their
Facebook wall.

They are not all super easy to understand at first.

You will have to think them through.

I have recorded a series of videos to explain these 67 steps to greatness.

It would be too long to explain in just one video.

Some of these 67 steps come from famous people like Bill Gates, Charlie Munger, Martin Seligman, Peter Drucker,
and Gandhi. Some from spiritual thinkers like Shaolin Temple Monks or the Dalai Lama. Others are from my personal mentors like
Joel Salatin who helped me so much. Some are from my own personal experiences. They are from books, videos, and
in person meetings with some of the greatest minds around the globe.

Use them for whatever your end game goal is.

Do you want to be a millionaire or a great artist, musician, painter, actor, model, humanitarian or parent?
